All About Weddings

Wedding ceremonies require many different types of music from start to finish. Please refer to the outline below to help you make decisions about what you would like us to play and when. (Tip: If you’re not familiar with the suggested music selections, search the song title on YouTube and listen to it.)

As Guests Arrive
Prior to the ceremony, FluteSong4 will play background music to enhance the atmosphere of your venue. We can work with you to select pieces that set the right mood for your event. In general we begin playing 15 minutes before the announced start time of the wedding.

Down the Aisle
Two or three pieces of music are usually selected for this portion of the ceremony. As the ceremony begins, the music will change to let the wedding guests know that it is time for the seating of family and significant others. Designate someone to communicate between FluteSong4 and the wedding party, so the music change happens at just the right time. Once the family and significant others are seated, the music changes again and it is time for the wedding party to enter. Then comes the bride, to a separate selection of music. Here are some of our favorite processionals:
Bridal Chorus (Here Comes the Bride) by Wagner
Trumpet Voluntary by Purcell
Canon in D by Pachelbel
Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring by Bach
Bouree and Hornpipe by Handel

During the Ceremony
FluteSong4 typically stops playing once everyone is in place and the officiant begins speaking. Many brides and grooms have a meditative moment during the middle of the ceremony (lighting of a unity candle, taking communion, making a presentation of flowers, etc.) The following selections are commonly used:
Adagio by Wouters
Pavane by Faure
Sheep May Safely Graze by Bach
Amazing Grace
Ave Maria by Schubert

You’re Married!
Congrats, the ceremony is done and it’s time to walk back down the aisle with all of your friends and family right behind. Here are a few ideas of what music you might want tas Recessional Music; additional repertoire is available. (Custom arrangements at extra cost to be determined)
Wedding March by Mendelssohn
Rondo by Mouret
Spring: Allegro & Pastoral Dance movements by Vivaldi
Air by Handel
Hornpipe by Handel

Final Selections
Choose one or two pieces for us to play as your guests mingle and head off to your reception.

Reception
In addition to playing during the ceremony, we can also play during your cocktail hour, dinner or full reception. Our repertoire includes a wide variety of classical, traditional and jazz standards.
